  • Hard plastic headband
  • Hot glue gun
  • Pattern

  1. Take your red grosgrain and cut you waist measurements to length plus 10 cm.
  2. Then on either side of your grosgrain, sew 10 cm of VELCRO® Brand Sew On Tape. This will be the base of your skirt.
  3. Cut your tulle into strips. The length of your tulle will be the length of your skirt.
  4. Next, slipknot the strips on the grosgrain.

  1. First, cut out the pattern.
  2. Next, clip a 5 cm piece of the VELCRO® Brand Sew On Fastener to the front-left part of the collar. Sew the fasteners in place.
  3. Next layer the pieces, so the right sides are touching. Clip around the edges and sew together with a 1 cm inseam, leaving a small section to turn out.
  4. Turn out the collar and sew up the gap.

  1. Cut out the pieces on gold paper with your die-cutting machine.
  2. Hot glue the pieces together, glue the paper to the plastic headband, and you’re ready to show-off this fabulous costume!

  3. Clip and turn out the bow. Then set aside.
  4. Clip 7 cm of the VELCRO® Brand Sew On Loop to the skinny side of the rectangle and sew around all four sides.
  5. Hem the long sides of the rectangle.
  6. Next, fold the rectangle in half lengthwise. The fastener should be on the inside. Then, sew a straight line and turn out the fabric.
  7. Slide the small tube through your larger piece of fabric till it sits in the middle and forms a bow.
  8. Sew 7 cm of the VELCRO® Brand Sew On Hook to the dress. Remember that this is where you would like the bow to sit.

Put on the accessories and add the extra noses to a pair of white shoes. And that’s it!

Shark Costume: Blue Dress Costume

Look sharp this Halloween and make a shark costume using a few simple supplies. Try out this DIY – we promise you’ll look swimmingly good!

  • VELCRO® Brand Sew On fasteners
  • One piece of 5-cm dense foam (chair cushion)
  • 1 meter blue fleece
  • ½ meter of pink fleece
  • One sheet of black felt
  • One sheet of white felt
  • Pins or clips
  • Fabric-friendly pen or chalk
  • Sewing machine

  1. Print, cut, and assemble the pattern. Trace the shark fin pieces on foam and then cut them out.
  2. Using the blue fleece, cut out the fin pieces again. Pin together as shown here and sew with a 3/5 cm inseam.
  3. Clip a 12 cm piece of VELCRO® Brand Hook as shown and sew along the red dashed line.
  4. Trim the excess and clip the corners. Turn out the fin and stuff one of the foam pieces inside. Use a ladder stitch to close the fin. Repeat these steps with the hat, back, and remaining arm fin.

  1. Trace and cut the sleeve out of the blue fleece fabric. Pin 5 inches of the VELCRO® Brand Sew On Loop to the opposite corner of the thumb hole and sew.
  2. Fold the sleeves in half so the long edges meet the fastener. Then sew the sleeves shut.
  3. Attach each fin to the sleeves.

  1. Cut one front and back piece from the pink and blue fleece fabric. Pin together and sew along the dashed line shown here with a 1 cm inseam.
  2. Turn the hat to sew the “V” shut. Pinch the “V” together (right sides of the front together, right sides of the back together), clip, and sew in one continuous seam.
  3. Turn out the blue piece and attach 12 cm of the VELCRO® Brand Sew On Loop to the top of the hat. Sew around all four sides.
  4. Next, turn the blue hat inside out and the pink hat right side out. Stuff, the pink piece inside the blue, so the right sides are touching.
  5. Clip and sew along the edges of the hat, leaving a few inches in the back to turn out.
  6. Turn out the hat and add a top stitch to give a finished look. Now sew up the hole in the back.
  7. Cut out the teeth and eyes and hand sew them onto the hat.
  8. Attach the fin to the top of the hat.

Sew a 30 cm strip of VELCRO® Brand Sew On Tape down the back of the blue dress and attach the fin to that strip. Add the hat and gloves. Now, you’re ready to swim to your Halloween festivities!
