Wardrobe malfunctions… We’ve all been there! But fortunately for most of us, not on live TV!
BBC Points West host Liz Beacon almost suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction on Monday evening when her dress split open moments before going on air.
Ms Beacon, 43, was drafted in last-minute to present the evening news and chose a new dress that had never been worn before.
However, minutes before going on air, the zip popped open leaving the dress gaping open at the back.
With only 15 minutes until the cameras were due to roll, the BBC newsreader’s quick-thinking colleagues came to the rescue with gaffer tape and bulldog clips, saving Ms Beacon from a potentially embarrassing mishap live on TV.
BBC Points West viewers were none the wiser to the extreme measures that had been taken to fasten the dress and shortly after the broadcast, the presenter shared a photo of the improvised fastener to Twitter.
Talk about being strapped in for the ride…. zip on my brand new dress exploded with 15 minutes to go until we were on air. Gaffer and clips at the ready! Not glamorous. Or fun. Please help @ZARA pic.twitter.com/5xsm4rsxeE
